TEAM Walnut
TEAM Walnut connects Philadelphia's finest Teaching Artists to classrooms and boardrooms across the Delaware Valley. These partnerships include artist residencies at area schools and community centers, professional development programs for educators, and teambuilding and staff development workshops for corporations and organizations. Each partnership provides individually-designed, high-quality theatre-education workshops with personal hands-on instruction.
TEAM residencies are tailored to suit the specific needs of your students and goals. Walnut Street Theatre's TEAM will work with each school or organization individually to design the best workshop for you. TEAM residencies can enhance the school curriculum or they can be a singular enriching experience. Always dynamic and informative, daily or weekly residencies can focus on any topic of your choice and can occur during or after-school, at your site or ours.
Past residencies have centered on such topics as:
- A 6-week residency with 9th and 10th graders at Steven A Douglas High School
that enhanced literacy and reading comprehension through vocal and physical
storytelling techniques.
- A 4-week residency for 3rd and 4th graders with Swarthmore-Rutledge School on
folktales in combination with their Social Studies unit on India.
- A 1-day professional development residency for the Delaware County Intermediate
Unit's Gifted Education Conference focusing on integrating theatre-based techniques
into instruction to deepen student learning.
- A 5-week residency at Meredith Elementary School to provide artistic direction for
their annual musical production.
- An 8-month residency with HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy on playwriting
and storytelling.
- A 1-day residency with Centacor at the Theatre for Corporate Teambuilding.
In addition to the examples listed above, TEAM Walnut is adaptable to work with any curriculum goal or individual need. There is no limit to the possibilities we can achieve with a little TEAMwork!
