The evenings proceeds will benefit the award-winning education and outreach programs coordinated by the Walnuts Education Department. The impressive programs include the Touring Outreach Company, which uses theatre to broach important social issues with students at local schools; the Adopt-a-School program, a multi-year partnership with three inner-city Philadelphia schools that integrates dramatic techniques into classroom curriculums as an engaging approach to effectively reach all students; the Professional Apprentice program, which provides hands-on training for young theatre professionals; and the Walnut Street Theatre School, which offers classes for children, teens and adults year-round. With support from individuals in the community, an unprecedented 172,000 local students and families participated in the Walnuts various educational programs last year alone.
