The Walnut recognizes that we cannot fully realize our other pillars of diversity and inclusivity without equity. Equity is about creating fair access, opportunity, and advancement for all people. With arts funding cuts sweeping our nation, we invest in our community with the country’s most extensive theatre-based arts education program. We are in schools, using theatrical arts to help students evolve into better citizens by instilling vital life skills, including self-esteem, cooperation, and confidence building.

Adopt-A-School Programs

We seek to support equal access to education by improving the school environment by enriching the school community.

Theatre School classes for Youth, Teens, and Adults

These year-round programs serve as a touchstone that allows all ages to expand their knowledge and refine their skills.

Touring Outreach Program

WST is in schools throughout the region every season and has served over 1,500,000 students since its inception.

Professional Apprenticeship Program

Unpaid apprenticeships often act as a barrier for underserved communities. Our apprenticeship program provides a scholarship stipend and has provided hundreds of future artists and arts administrators with the tools to enter the industry with a solid foundation.
