Walnut Street Theatre is currently accepting resumes for the following positions:
Walnut Street Theatre, America’s oldest theatre, seeks experienced Assistant Technical
Director to join our fast-paced production team. The ATD works closely with Technical
Director in the implementing all scenic elements for WST’s mainstage, studio, and
children’s theatre productions; supervising all scene shop staff and apprentices, and
budgeting of all scenic designs.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with TD to engineer, develop, and draft all scenic elements and shop
drawings using AutoCAD
• Assist TD in providing accurate material and labor estimates for all scenic, paint,
and props for all WST productions
• Research material and build methods for scenic elements
• Maintain build and load-in schedules
• Schedule and supervise all shop personnel
• Provide training for WST shop apprentices
• Order materials as required
• Assist the TD in the scheduling and arranging of scenery, props, and tool
transportation between the shop and theatre
• Attend all load-in, load-out and technical rehearsals as needed
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all tools, soft goods, and stored scenic elements
• Foster a safe, positive working environment
Qualifications:
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD drafting, including 3D drafting techniques
• Minimum 3-5 years professional scene shop experience, including experience in
Technical Direction
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 oCice suite
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient in theatrical rigging, electrical wiring, and CNC Programming
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to drive a 16’ box truck in a city environment
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits
• $60,000-$62,000 annually with excellent benefits package and bonus potential

Walnut Street Theatre seeks an Assistant Stage Manager to work on an Equity Professional Internship contract for its mainstage productions of THE ADDAMS FAMILY and FROZEN for the period of 8/29/26 – 1/3/27. Applicant should be an early career, non-union stage manager with experience supporting large scale musical productions and a goal of becoming a member of Actors Equity Association. Must have housing local to Center City, Philadelphia.
Compensation:
$1,319.25 per week
