Although summer 1900 was the only time that vaudeville was attempted at the Walnut,
several leading vaudevillians appeared at the theatre in legitimate productions.
Most notably were The Four Cohans, who opened
The Governor's Son in April 1901.
While the production was only moderately successful, it allowed 22-year-old
George M. Cohan (left) to make the leap from vaudeville to legitimate theatre.
