1924
In the 1920s comedy of manners had a revival in American playwrighting,
reflecting the growing prosperity in the country. Philip Barry was a hit
with his comedy
You and I, which played at the Walnut for two weeks
in February 1924. The young playwright had written the play as a student at
Harvard, and received the Harvard Prize for his work. Barry is best known
for his 1939 play
