Box office records were broken again in the summer of 1978 when the musical
Eubie! had its pre-Broadway tryout starring Gregory Hines (left) and
Lynnie Godfrey. Hines, known now for an extensive theatre, dance, television,
and film career, was nominated for a Tony Award and won a Theatre World Award
for his performance.
