Bookings during the Performing Arts Center years also included several rock
and new wave groups popular in the late 1970s. Among those who performed in
the spring of 1979 were The Police, a three piece rock band consisting of
(from left) drummer Stewart Copeland, bassist/lead vocalist Gordon Sumner
(better known as Sting) and guitarist Andy Summers.
