1961
A Shot in the Dark opened in October 1961. The show featured a notable cast
including Walter Matthau, Julie Harris, and William Shatner. Matthau was a late
addition to the cast, only brought in to the production after actor Donald Cook
died during earlier tryouts. Matthau went on to win a Tony Award for Best
Supporting Actor for his acclaimed performance. William Shatner went on to
fame in
Star Trek and
Boston Legal.
